RentPayment Just Got More Rewarding With Piñata

RentPayment Rewards points may be spent on gift cards from Amazon to Apple, Starbucks to Sephora, CVS to DoorDash; on home items like kitchenware, furniture, and electronics; and on tickets for giveaways from big screen Samsung TVs to Le Creuset pots and Roomba vacuums.

Piñata will make sure you always have access to a curated selection of rewards. In addition to these evergreen options, Piñata releases fresh limited-edition items every week, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Lastly, you can redeem points for giveaway tickets to win exciting and aspirational prizes.

When you pay your rent through MRI RentPayment, you have the option of activating your rent reporting benefit with Piñata, which will help you build credit with every on-time payment. Simply verify your identity by providing and confirming your Date of Birth, which is required by the credit bureaus.

We’ve seen renters’ credit scores increase up to 150 points from positive rent reporting. 

The benefits will begin after your next rent day. If you pay on time, we’ll report the on-time payment to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, and you’ll see a new “Pinata Rent” tradeline on your credit report (this can take 30-60 days initially).

Only positive (on‑time) payments are sent. Once a payment is reported, it typically takes about 60 days to show up on your credit profile and influence your score.

The premium RentPayment Rewards plan includes up to 24 months of back reporting from Piñata. This means that if you’ve been living at your current address for two or more years, your history of past on-time rental payments can be added to your credit report all at once. If you’ve been paying on time, this back reporting can provide a concentrated positive impact on your credit history and score by demonstrating a positive payment history.

Piñata will only report positive (on-time) rent payments to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion because its mission is to make rent more rewarding for renters.

Building financial health for renters and giving them credit for paying their largest monthly expenses is an important part of the RentPayment Rewards program.
